Am I Rich or Poor? How To Discover Your Financial Status

Recently, I discovered that 90% of the wealth in this world is controlled by 10% of the people while 90% of the people compete to share the remnant - 10% - as they live in a rat-race struggle to make ends meet. May be, you have asked yourself, Am I rich or poor? Here is the answer.

Obviously, there are many people who still believe that they are not poor - yeah, they have personal cars, a cottage, 2 or 3 kids, nice beautiful gadgets at home, and so on. See, getting what the rich get does not put anyone into the class of the rich. In fact, you know how long it took you to get your first car - may be, you saved up the money over a period of 12 months! That’s not bad, anyway.

Now, I would like to share my views on how to rightly place yourself into the most appropriate class so that peradventure if you fall 'low' otherwise, you will be challenged to improve on a number of things so as to progressively increase your financial worth.

I tell you there is no comfort in lack. I have experienced poverty - it's quite terrible! It sets limits on how much you can do, and how far you can go!

Symptoms of Poverty

1. Needs are greater than income
2. Hardships/difficulties in meeting basic necessities of life - clothing, food, and shelter. The degree of hardship varies from person to person, depending on the level of income with respect to the needs of the person.
3. Hardship in paying bills, fees, dues, etc. That often necessitates installment payment in some cases.
4. Debt-prone livelihood. Frequent borrowing of funds to meet one's need.
5. Inordinate favor-seeking from family and friends to give you money or material so as to meet your needs.
6. Misappropriation of money, e.g.
- satisfying your wants at the expense of your needs
- unprofitable spending on habits, addictions and hobbies such as smoking, alcoholism, entertainment, whore mongering, etc.
7. Lack of saving culture
8. Pressing needs that engender the spending of your tithes. That's risky.
9. The 'manage' principle, e.g.
- skipping meals to conserve your food stuff when normally you should be eating three square meals.
10. Hard 'tasky' physical and mental labor that do not commensurate with income, e.g.
- Laborers (workers) on a factory floor are working to enrich someone else while they themselves earn small pay. Sorry if you are one! Don't mean to hurt you - just a fact.
